Like so many other small business owners, I’m pivoting, evolving, reinventing and being creative in the offerings I have for potential customers. This is the natural evolution of an entrepreneur but perhaps even more so in the midst of an economic downturn where people aren’t spending their hard earned money.

We may all look like we’re gliding along like graceful swans but below the surface we’re kicking like hell just to stay afloat. The struggle is real.

Apologies for the radio silence, it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions in recent days. On Sunday I ran the Manchester marathon with my two kids. We weren’t fast, but I guess that’s what happens when one of you is recovering from an injury and two of you haven’t trained enough. I’ll let you, dear reader, decide which of those descriptions fits each of us! We did it though and I’m immensely proud of them both for taking it on.

Early on Monday morning I woke to the call I’d been dreading, telling us that a very dear family friend Leeson O’Keefe had died. He’s fought a fast and furious battle with pancreatic cancer over the last couple of months, which has been heartbreaking to see. There’s some solace though in knowing that his suffering is over.

On Friday I decided to set up a last minute fundraising page as so many people had been asking me what charity I was running the marathon for. I chose The Christie Charity @christiecharity as they’re doing some incredible work in the field of cancer. Leeson knew I’d done this so maybe he hung on until we’d run. I wouldn’t put it past him!

THE IMPORTANT STUFF

Prices start from £165 per night. This includes a welcome hamper with locally sourced breakfast items, logs for the wood-burner, eco-toiletries and exclusive use of the 6-acre wild-flower meadow.
The cabin is open all year round with a minimum 2-night midweek stay during the off-peak season and 3-nights during peak season.
No WiFi. No plug sockets. Mobile phone signal is network dependent.
Adults only. Sorry no children or pets.
Check in is between 3-6pm and check-out is 10am. Later times by prior arrangement.
